Ace cinematographer Santosh Sivan’s project Ceylon is believed to have been shelved.

Santosh Sivan, the internationally acclaimed south Indian film maker earlier announced that he will make a film ‘Ceylon’ based on the situation in Sri Lanka. The movie was to be based on the country’s internal conflict and the plight of Tamils displaced by war. He had also said that he will start the film by November after completing Mani Ratnam’s ‘Raavan’ as a cinematographer.

Now sources say that the director has almost dumped the plan. ‘Ravana’ is stretching beyond timelines and also Santosh has been receiving a lot of offers for acting from Mollywood. And so he had to abandon the project according to reliable sources.

Santosh Sivan is already playing the lead role in the Malayalam film ‘Makaramanju’ which depicts the period when Raja Ravi Varma painted Urvashi-Pururavasu. Radha’s daughter and the ‘Ko’ heroine Karthika is playing the female lead to Santosh Sivan.
